DC Heroes Enjoy the Cold on ‘Sweater Weather’ Variant Covers

DC has announced a new lineup of “Sweater Weather” variant covers, which find some of the publisher’s most iconic heroes enjoying the winter months.

No fewer than eight Sweater Weather variants will adorn DC’s various titles throughout the month of February 2024. Things kick off on Tuesday, February 6 with Pablo Villalobos’ variant for Birds of Prey #6 and Leirix’s variant for Fire & Ice: Welcome to Smallville #6. Then, Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle take a winter holiday on Kevin Wada’s cover for Batman #143, on sale February 13. That same day sees the release of Green Lantern #8, which features a Sweater Weather variant by Tiago da Silva.

Three more Sweater Weather variants hit shelves on February 20. First, Dick Grayson plays in the snow on Nick Robles’ cover for Nightwing #111. Meanwhile, Clark Kent and Lois Lane prefer to say indoors on Ariel Diaz’ variant for Superman #11. Elsewhere, Starfire, Nightwing, and Beast Boy decide to make their own summer on Dan Mora‘s piece for Titans #8. The winter-themed variant cover initiative wraps up on February 27 with Laura Braga’s cover for Power Girl #6.

Comic book publisher get into the winter spirit

Of course, DC isn’t the only major publisher using special variants to get into the winter spirit. Back in September, Marvel Comics announced the similarly-themed Ski Chalet Variant Covers. On those covers, popular Marvel characters like Captain America, Storm , and Spider-Woman hit the slopes or otherwise enjoy the snow in a manner similar to their DC contemporaries. Marvel’s Ski Chalet variants start rolling out this December.
