Lucasfilm Introduces Star Wars: The High Republic Padawans

Fans are just a few months away from the next phase of the Star Wars Universe. Even though it will deal with stories that happened years before the events of the Skywalker saga, the forthcoming The High Republic publishing event hopes to hook even the most hardcore fans of the franchise. Now Lucasfilm has debuted the first look at some of the new protagonists of the upcoming stories: the young Padawans from the High Republic era.

“The High Republic Padawans really run the gamut in terms of skill, devotion, and personality,” said Lucasfilm Publishing executive editor Jennifer Heddle. “Some are reluctant to seek out adventure while some are perhaps a little too eager; some are extremely talented in the Force while others maybe have to work a little bit harder. We wanted to showcase a wide range of young people in the hopes every reader can find someone they relate to.”

Their names are Bell Zettifar, Burryaga, Lula Talisola, and Reath Silas. You can take a look at them in the gallery below.

Lucasfilm has also released a few details about the young protagonists. Bell Zettifar is an apprentice of Loden Greatstorm and will make his debut in The High Republic: Light of the Jedi novel. Burryaga is a Wookiee skilled with his two-handed lightsaber who studies together with Jedi Master Nib Assek. Lula Talisola wants to be the best Jedi ever, but she can’t wait to get knighted. She will make her first appearance in The High Republic Adventures comic from IDW Publishing. Reath Silas is one of the characters of Claudia Gray’s young adult novel Into the Dark. He spent most of his time as an apprentice on Coruscant under the eyes of Jora Malli, a member of the Jedi Council.

Not long ago, Lucasfilm also offered a first look at an almost 200-years-younger Jedi Master Yoda. The upcoming The High Republic: Light of the Jedi novel will kick off the first phase of the Star Wars: The High Republic project. It will debut on January 5, 2021.
