DC Will Release a Wonder Woman 1984 Tie-In Comic This Fall

Assuming there are no further delays, Wonder Woman 1984 will finally arrive in theaters this fall. But first, DC Comics is going to release a new Wonder Woman comic that will help set the stage for Diana’s latest big screen adventure.

Wonder Woman 1984 #1 will be a special tie-in issue for the film, with a lead story by the movie’s co-producer, Anna Obropta. Long time comic book editor and writer, Louise Simonson, will co-write the story with Obropta. Industry veteran, Bret Blevins, will illustrate their story; which depicts Diana in her job at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. While Diana Prince leads a tour group through the museum, a hostage situation forces her to step into action as Wonder Woman.

Additionally, the one-shot will feature a second story by writer Steve Pugh and artist Marguerite Sauvage. In that tale, someone has stolen Wonder Woman’s Golden Lasso of Truth. To get it back, Diana will team up with Steve Trevor in a race against time. Because in the wrong hands, the lasso can be very dangerous.

DC will release the issue through Walmart first, on Sunday, September 20. However, Wonder Woman 1984 #1 will be available in comic book stores and digital outlets on Tuesday, September 29. There’s also a brief preview from the lead story by Obropta, Simonson, and Blevins in the gallery below.

Wonder Woman 1984 will hit theaters on Friday, October 2.
