Sometimes, a drunk phone call can put you in a lot of trouble. But sometimes, just sometimes, it can help you to keep Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Especially when on the other side of the line you have Disney CEO Bob Iger. Speaking on the Jimmy Kimmel Live, Spider-Man‘s Tom Holland jokingly stated that he “saved” the Web-Slinger and then revealed the particular way in which he did it.
“I got Bob Iger’s email,” said Holland. “I sent him the email, and he responded very quickly saying, ‘I’d love to jump on the phone with you at some point — when are you free?’ And you don’t give Bob Iger a schedule. You’re like, ‘whenever, Bob!'”

The ‘whenever,’ though, turned out to be when the actor was taking the load off with his family at his local pub trivia. After three pints of beer and having barely eaten anything.
“I get a phone call from an unknown number, and I have a feeling like, I think this is Bob Iger… but I’m drunk,” Holland confessed.
Then Holland recalled getting a little bit emotional while thanking Iger for the amazing five-year experience. Eventually, it seems like Iger appreciated Holland’s emotive involvement in his role and this was one of the factors that contributed to Marvel Studios’ and Sony’s reconciliation.
“I’m glad you got drunk and got on the phone with Bob!” Kimmel told Holland right before the end of their interview. Many Spider-Man fans are glad too.
