Idris Elba Would Like to Return as Heimdall in the MCU

It seems that Idris Elba has rediscovered his love for superhero movies and for the Marvel Cinematic Universe in particular. Elba is now reportedly portraying Bronze Tiger in James Gunn’s upcoming The Suicide Squad, but he isn’t shutting any doors. Speaking with KTSA (via Comic Book Movie), the actor has revealed that he wouldn’t mind the return of his Heimdall character on the big or small screen in the future.

“Listen, Heimdall is essentially part of the god family,” he said. “So you know, he essentially could be alive. I’m just saying! I’m just putting it out there! The Heimdall character goes way back into, you know, the Thor mythology. And I’m sure there will be an interesting way to bring that alive. Of course I would. Yes.”

Elba made his debut as Heimdall in the MCU in 2011’s Thor and he reprise his role in the Thor franchise until Heimdall was killed off in Avengers: Infinity War. That being said, Heimdall could easily come back in the upcoming Loki series since that show will use an alternate timeline.

The actor hasn’t always seemed happy about his MCU adventure, however. In the past, he infamously referred to his role as  “torture.”

“I’m actually falling down from a spaceship, so they had to put me in harness in this green-screen studio,” he said to the Telegraph about a scene he made for Thor: The Dark World. “And in between takes I was stuck there, fake hair stuck on to my head with glue, this f—— helmet, while they reset. […] Then there I was, in this stupid harness, with this wig and this sword and these contact lenses. It ripped my heart out.”
