Exclusive Preview: Guardians of the Galaxy #5

The Guardians of the Galaxy broke up after the Infinity Wars crossover after Drax died and Gamora nearly destroyed the universe with the Infinity Gauntlet. About the only good thing to come out of it was Thanos’ demise. However, the Mad Titan’s Last Will and Testament claimed that his mind would soon be uploaded into a new body. Suspicion immediately fell upon Gamora, and an intergalactic manhunt is underway. Starfox, Nebula, Wraith, Gladiator, and Cosmic Ghost Rider  have formed the Dark Guardians to kill Gamora. Only a new team of Guardians stands in their way.

Groot has emerged as the very loquacious captain of the new team. But Star-Lord, Beta Ray Bill, Phyla-Vell, and Moondragon have joined Groot on his quest to save Gamora. Together, they tracked her to Halfworld, Rocket’s home planet. Unfortunately, the Dark Guardians chased Nova directly to them. In the ensuing battle, the Guardians were defeated and Star-Lord took the full force of Gladiator’s heat vision to his chest.

In Superhero Hype’s exclusive preview for Guardians of the Galaxy #5, Donny Cates and artist Geoff Shaw resolve last issue’s cliffhanger as the Guardians pick up the pieces. The Dark Guardians have taken Gamora and left the real Guardians stranded. Fortunately for them, Beta Ray Bill knows just who to call for help in their hour of need.

Here’s the official description from Marvel: “At the mercy of the Goddess of Death! Hela’s dreams of resurrecting Thanos are finally within reach…But what will the Guardians have to sacrifice in order to prevent that?”
