Donny Cates and Ryan Ottley Team Up For Marvel’s New Hulk Series

It looks like Donny Cates and Al Ewing are swapping books. Shortly after news broke that Ewing is relaunching Venom this fall with co-writer Ram V and artist Bryan Hitch, Marvel has announced that Cates is making his way over to Bruce Banner’s corner of the universe. Following the end of Ewing’s Immortal Hulk run this summer, Cates and artist Ryan Ottley will tackle the next chapter in the Jade Giant’s story.

Simply titled Hulk, the new series brings Bruce to a place he’s been countless times before. After discovering a “radical way” to control his gamma-irradiated persona, the end of the Hulk may be in sight. However, it also has the potential to create “something new – with massive consequences” in the process.

“Marvel just gave me the keys to the strongest one there is,” said Cates. “Haha… oh boy. You guys are just not ready for this. You’re about to find out what happens when Ryan Ottley and I get angry….and guess what? Well…pretty sure you’re gonna like us a lot when we’re angry.”

Hulk #1 will hit comic shops sometime in November. Readers can also preview the new series a few months early thanks to a special Avengers/Hulk one-shot arriving this summer. The issue will be available to pick up on Free Comic Book Day on August 14. Until then, you can check out Ottley’s cover for the first issue below.
