Justified Creator Developing Talent Comic For Fox

Fox may have found its next comic-book inspired series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network is partnering with Justified creator Graham Yost to adapt Talent, a comic that was published by Boom! Studios in 2006.

“I am very excited to be adapting this wonderful graphic novel,” said Yost in a statement. “I think this could be a thrilling, emotional and, if I don’t blow it, thought-provoking show. It’s great to be working with [Fox Entertainment CEO] Charlie Collier, Michael Thorn and the team at Fox.”

Talent was co-written by Christopher Golden and Tom Sniegoski and illustrated by Paul Azaceta. It follows a lone plane crash survivor named Nicholas Dane. After the crash, Nicholas gains the various talents of every passenger on the plane. From there,  Nicholas attempts to figure out what happened while avoiding the criminals who took down his plane.

Although Fox is giving Talent a straight-to-series pickup, THR notes that it has “a script commitment with significant penalty attached. The report notably refers to Dane as “Nicole,” which suggests that the producers are changing the character from a man to a woman.

“When I first read Talent, I was immediately hooked, as it took me on an incredible journey I’ll never forget,” added Thorn, president of Fox Entertainment. “This project accomplishes two professional goals of mine: work again with Graham Yost, one of the finest creators in the business; and transition Talent from feature development into the world to television. In Graham, [executive producer] Neal Moritz, Sony and Boom, we have the perfect partners who have the vision to bring this fantastic story and its characters to life as we take these important steps in building future Fox.”
