Imagine if Space Jam: A New Legacy just skipped the whole basketball part, and let its Warner Bros. characters fight. That’s kind of the idea behind MultiVersus, a Super Smash Bros.-style brawl-for all with fighters both obvious (Batman) and not (Adventure Time‘s Jake the Dog). In the new MultiVersus cinematic trailer, we get a look at some of the key characters doing their moves. And get proof positive that the folks at Warner Bros. Games saw all those Shaggy/Mortal Kombat memes.

It’s fascinating just how much Warner Bros. continues to misunderstand their own Iron Giant. They may argue that it’s meta-commentary, but this follows two movies (Ready Player One and Space Jam: A New Legacy) that depicted the ultimate pacifist as a fighting machine. He is NOT a gun, people!
That said, Bugs Bunny’s going to have a much harder time with the likes of Batman than he did against Monstars. Also, holy hell, throwing Arya Stark in there really seems unfair to all the kid-friendly characters about to get needle-stabbed.
The closed Alpha for the game begins this week, May 19. Open Beta starts in July. Sign up at the official site, but be prepared to state your age, for some reason.
