Marvel’s Avengers Reveals Black Panther: War For Wakanda Release Date

Nearly a year after its launch, Marvel’s Avengers is finally adding King T’Challa to its ranks. Square Enix has announced when players can get their hands on the game’s highly-anticipated story expansion, Black Panther: War for Wakanda. The new adventure will be available to download starting on August 17.

As with earlier expansions, War for Wakanda will be released at no additional charge to gamers. The expansion introduces Black Panther as Avengers’ latest playable hero. But more importantly, it gives players the chance to explore T’Challa’s domain and visit the new Birnin Zana Outpost overlooking Wakanda’s capital, also known as The Golden City. There, they can find Shuri’s laboratory, Zawavari’s chambers, and the Wakandan War Room. Players can also participate in additional solo or multiplayer Drop Zone and Threat Sector missions.

War for Wakanda finds T’Challa facing a sudden betrayal, which shakes his trust in everyone around him, including his family. But when Klaw shows up and threatens his people’s safety, the nation’s protector has no choice but to rise to the occasion. Christopher Judge, who previously starred as Kratos in God of War, is providing T’Challa’s voice. The expansion will also add a second villain into the mix, but his (or her) identity hasn’t been announced yet.

Additionally, the day before the expansion goes live, Crystal Dynamics will share more about what players can expect during a new War Table presentation. The event will debut on Monday, August 16 at 10am PT.
