Marvel Actor Pitched a Captain America Series With Chris Evans

It’s been five years since fans last got to see Chris Evans don the mantle of Captain America. The Gifted actor bid adieu to the billion-dollar franchise in 2019, with Avengers: Endgame serving as his swan song to the MCU. Since then, Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson has effectively succeeded Chris Evans in the iconic role, with the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World set to solidify his take on the character.

Nevertheless, there have been talks to bring Evans back to the setup, with the latest bid taking shape in the form of a Captain America series.

Ross Marquand wants Chris Evans to lead a Captain America time travel series

In a recent discussion, MCU actor Ross Marquand, who portrayed Red Skull in the last two Avengers movies, disclosed that he had pitched a Disney+ streaming series to Marvel.

The revelation occurred during a panel held at the Edmonton Expo in Alberta, Canada, as per The Direct. Marquand seemingly attended the meet-up to discuss his future in the ever-expanding MCU. During his time on stage, the seasoned voice artist stated that he had pitched a Disney Plus series revolving around Chris Evans’ Captain America.

The show would have reportedly followed Steve Rogers’ adventures following the events of Avengers: Endgame. Marquand’s vision would see the shield-wielding superhero embark on a quest to return the infinity stones to their original places to restore balance to the MCU timeline.

Chris Evans’ return as Captain America would have also allowed Ross Marquand to continue his run as the Red Skull. The Invincible star took over the part of the German supervillain after Hugo Weaving declined the opportunity to reprise the role he played in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger. Interestingly, he has also voiced Ultron in What If…? ever since the animated series made its small-screen debut in 2021.

Evans briefly returned to the MCU in an unorthodox manner through 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine. While many, including the red-clad mercenary, expected him to portray Captain America, he was instead introduced in the movie as the Human Torch. Therefore, it is possible for the Hollywood veteran to make a late comeback in the MCU. Nonetheless, Marvel has yet to officially sanction Chris Evans’ return as Captain America.
