Amazon Prime’s Fallout adaptation is adding a familiar star with plenty of genre experience under his belt. Variety brings word that Kyle MacLachlan has been cast in the new TV show based on Bethesda’s hit video game series. He will star alongside fellow newcomers Xelia Mendes-Jones and Aaron Moten.
MacLachlan is no stranger to sci-fi thanks to his performance in David Lynch’s original Dune adaptation along with his recurring stint in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2. Aside from his best-known role in Twin Peaks, MacLachlan is also widely remembered for appearing in films like Blue Velvet and Showgirls. More recently, he starred in Joe vs. Carole, which debuted on Peacock earlier this year.
Mendes-Jones will next appear in the Netflix film Havoc and season 2 of Amazon’s The Wheel of Time. Meanwhile, Moten was a series regular on Netflix’s Disjointed and recently showed up on the big screen in Father Stu.

There’s currently no word on who MacLachlan, Mendes-Jones, and Moten are playing in the upcoming adaptation. However, Variety confirms that all three will appear as series regulars. Amazon began casting Fallout back in February. Walton Goggins (Justified) will lead the show as Ghoul, a mutated human suffering from radiation poisoning. Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets) will also star as a character named Jean, a young woman hiding a dark secret.
Showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner have been tasked with bringing Fallout’s post-apocalyptic nuclear wasteland to life. They will also executive produce the series with Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. Nolan was previously confirmed to be directing the show’s pilot episode.
Amazon Prime hasn’t announced a premiere date for Fallout.
