If you saw Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City in theaters last fall, then you have our sympathy. It was truly the Morbius of Resident Evil movies and somehow even less faithful to the original video games than the six Mila Jovovich RE films. Welcome To Raccoon City couldn’t even recreate the costumes or personalities of the main characters! Now, Netflix’s Resident Evil live-action series is almost ready to launch, and it doesn’t look any closer to the games than the last movie did. However, it might be more entertaining.
The trailer introduces Jade Wesker (Ella Balinska), one of two daughters of the infamous Albert Wesker (Lance Reddick). In 2022, Jade and her sister, Billie, move into New Raccoon City, a town fully controlled by Umbrella. But 14 years later, Jade finds herself alone in London against the backdrop of the zombie apocalypse.

Additionally, Netflix has released a second teaser that offers some explanation as to how the zombie virus spread. Umbrella released a new wonder drug, “Joy,” which was too good to be true. They also knew from the start that including the T-Virus as a secret ingredient was just asking for the apocalypse to happen.
Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, Paola Nuñez, Ahad Raza Mir, Connor Gossatti, and Turlough Convery co-star in the series.
The first season of Resident Evil will consist of eight episodes, all of which will debut on Netflix on July 14.
