New Stranger Things 4 Poster Is a Callback To Season 1

One month from today, the Stranger Things gang will make their way back to Netflix for a new season. As the premiere date draws closer, Netflix continues to tease the re-emergence of a key location from earlier episodes. Netflix has released a new Stranger Things 4 poster featuring Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven. You can check it out for yourself below.

Although she’s had two seasons to grow her hair out, the poster shows Eleven sporting her buzzcut from season 1. She also appears to be dressed in a hospital gown. So unless the new season is heavy on flashback scenes, there’s a strong chance that the formerly superpowered teen will once again find herself in the clutches of the Hawkins Lab scientists who experimented on her until she opened the dimensional gateway to the Upside Down.

This is a surprise for a number of reasons. For starters, the lab closed down after some of its secrets were exposed and it has been abandoned ever since. Its lead scientist, Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine), was also seemingly killed by a Demogorgon at the end of season 1. Regardless, his survival was hinted at in season 2. If he is alive, it’s a safe bet that he will stop at nothing until Eleven is back in his custody, even if she no longer has her telekinetic powers.

Whatever the case, Stranger Things 4 will put Eleven through the ringer this year. Brown confirmed this during a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, teasing that the new episodes stretched her acting abilities to their limits.

“You get to see Eleven in the darkest state she’s ever been,” said Brown. “This has definitely been the hardest season I’ve ever filmed. There have been some of the scariest, scariest things that I’ve ever seen as a human, which you guys will get to see, for sure.”

Stranger Things 4 will premiere on Netflix on May 27.
