Anna Lore Cast as Spoiler in The CW’s Gotham Knights Pilot

Another familiar DC character will have a role to play in The CW’s potential Gotham Knights series. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Anna Lore has joined the show’s cast as Stephanie Brown, better known to DC readers as Spoiler.

Stephanie made her first appearance in DC’s comic book universe in 1992. Writer Chuck Dixon and artist Tom Lyle introduced her as the daughter of Cluemaster, a lesser-known Batman villain who was basically a poor man’s Riddler. Stephanie adopted her own superhero costume and also became a love interest for Tim Drake/Robin. Over the next several years, she would also go on to assume the mantles of both Robin and Batgirl.

Gotham Knights’ version of Stephanie is described as “someone whose sarcasm is matched only by her intellect. She was raised on a steady diet of brain teasers and puzzles and honed her skills to become a formidable coder. But her greatest talent may be hiding a less-than-perfect home life.”

Lore is best known for her role on The CW’s All American. She joins a cast of young actors that currently includes Fallon Smythe as Harper Row/Bluebird, Tyler DiChiara as Cullen Row, Olivia Rose Keegan as Duela Dent, Navia Robinson as Carrie Kelley, and Oscar Morgan as Turner Hayes. Former Supernatural star Misha Collins also joined the cast last week as Harvey Dent.

Gotham Knights takes place in a separate continuity from The CW’s mainline Arrowverse, and Lore’s casting effectively confirms it. Previously, another version of Stephanie Brown showed up in a season 2 episode of Batwoman, played by Morgan Kohan. Lore herself also visited an alternate DC Universe in 2019 when she guest-starred in two episodes of Doom Patrol.
