Marvel’s Ironheart Series Casts Lyric Ross In a Supporting Role

This Is Us star Lyric Ross is making her way to the MCU. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ross has been cast in a supporting role in the upcoming Ironheart series on Disney+. She will play the best friend of the main character, Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne). However, THR’s report did not mention the name of Ross’ character.

Ross joined the cast of This is Us in season 2 as Deja Pearson, the adoptive daughter of series leads Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson). Her previous credits include Chicago Fire and Sirens. She also has a leading role in the upcoming film, The Class.

In the Marvel comic book universe, Riri Williams is a teenager with an incredible aptitude for technology. After landing admission to MIT at age 15, Riri managed to build her own version of Tony Stark’s Iron Man armor. Stark was so impressed by Riri’s accomplishment that he endorsed her desire to become a superhero.

So far, the only other confirmed cast member for Ironheart is Anthony Ramos. He is rumored to be playing the primary villain of the show. However, that remains unconfirmed at this time. Additionally, Thorne is set to make her on-screen debut as Riri later this year in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Potentially, that may change a few details of Riri’s origin story.

Ironheart is slated to begin filming in Atlanta in June. It will likely debut on Disney+ in 2023.
