Today’s Tudum event would have been a bust if Netflix didn’t reveal anything new about the next season of Stranger Things. But luckily, the streaming service delivered with a new preview scene introduced by series creators Matt and Ross Duffer and stars Gaten Matarazzo and Joe Keery, all of whom promised a “crazy” and “epic” return to Hawkins, Indiana. There’s still no release date for the new episodes. However, the clip introduces us to a new location that looks like it will play a big role in Stranger Things 4.
The clip essentially confirms that part of the new season will wind the clock back to the 1950s, when an ostensibly well-to-do family moves into an idyllic mansion that eventually comes to be known as the Creel House. Unfortunately, what starts out as the perfect suburban life takes a turn for the worse when the unexplainable starts happening. Dead rabbits appear on the front lawn and lights flicker inside the house. But nothing compares to the sight of the seemingly-possessed father standing over his children’s lifeless bodies.

From here, the clip fast-forwards to the show’s usual 1980s setting. There, Mike Wheeler’s gang breaks into the now-abandoned Creel House. It’s not exactly clear what they’re investigating. But the preview’s closing shot hints at a link between the family’s tragedy and the Upside Down.
Stranger Things 4 will hit Netflix sometime in 2022.
