This year’s Star Wars Day saw many tributes to the legendary franchise created by George Lucas in 1977. “The Force Awakens From Its Nap,” created by The Simpsons executive producer Al Jean stands among the most interesting. It features the return of the Maggie Simpson shorts, as her latest set of adventures showed her meeting BB-8. Since Disney has both The Simpsons intellectual property and Star Wars, many fans hoped to see a crossover with another baby character that has acquired worldwide fame, The Mandalorian‘s Grogu. However, it appears that Disney wants to loan Baby Yoda as little as possible, for now.
“Grogu is the most popular character created anywhere in fiction in the last year, and you don’t want to overexpose him,” Jean said while talking with CNN. “So they let us do a little tribute to him but not a big reference, which I think is great.”

The first draft of the story featured a cameo from Din Djarin himself, but the producers ultimately opted to take a different way.
“There was a scene where we had the parents picking up the kids, and the Mandalorian was one of them,” Jean added. “What happened was once we hit on it as a story between Maggie and BB-8, we just eliminated everything that wasn’t pertinent to that story.”
“The Force Awakens From Its Nap” is now available on Disney+.
