Chloe Bennet, Dove Cameron, & Yana Perrault Cast As The Powerpuff Girls

Earlier this week, The CW lined up Maggie Kiley to helm the pilot episode of the live-action Powerpuff Girls series. Now, the grown-up Powerpuff Girls have been cast.

Via The Hollywood Reporter, Chloe Bennet, Dove Cameron, and Yana Perrault have been signed to headline The Powerpuff Girls. Bennet played Daisy Johnson/Quake for seven seasons on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC. She has also appeared in Nashville. In this new series, Bennet will portray Blossom Utonium, the former heroine who now has “several advanced degrees.” THR also notes that “Blossom’s repressed kiddie-superhero trauma has left her feeling anxious and reclusive, and she aims to become a leader again — this time on her own terms.”

Cameron briefly joined Bennet on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Ruby. However, her signature role was Mai in Disney’s Descendants. She will play Bubbles Utonium, a heroine “whose sweet-girl disposition won America’s hearts as a child. She still sparkles as an adult, but her charming exterior belies an unexpected toughness and wit. She’s initially more interested in recapturing her fame than saving the world, but she just might surprise us and herself.”

Finally, Perrault will portray the final Powerpuff sister, Buttercup Utonium. While Bettercup was formerly “the rebellious badass” of the team, she is “more sensitive than her tough exterior suggests.” The story also states that “Buttercup has spent her adulthood trying to shed her Powerpuff Girl identity and live an anonymous life.”

Perrault has starred on Broadway’s Alanis Morissette musical, Jagged Little Pill.

Heather Regnier, Diablo Cody, and Greg Berlanti are the creative team behind The Powerpuff Girls live-action series. It will premiere on The CW in the 2021-2022 TV series.
