Paul Bettany Talks About Playing White Vision in WandaVision

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for the final two episodes of WandaVision!

A few weeks ago, Paul Bettany couldn’t resist teasing a WandaVision cameo that turned out to be himself. In the penultimate episode, it was revealed that the original Vision has been rebuilt and reactivated.  The new White Vision confronted Wanda and Vision in the finale. Now, Bettany has opened up about playing two sides of Vision in a new interview with Esquire.

“I was super intimidated by myself,” joked Bettany. “I would come in one day and I would be Vision or The Vision. Then Adam [Lytle], my stunt guy, would play Vision. And he learned all of the dialogue and for both parts — he was brilliant. We would play the scene like that. And then the next day, he would come in. And he would get The Vision. Then I would get Vision. And then we would play the scene like that and the same to the fights so that they could always have my bella faccia on camera, at some point. It was more confusing than I had sort of allotted. It used up all of my brain.”

Because Wanda’s Vision restored White Vision’s memories, he fled the Westview hex for parts unknown. Presumably, this version of Vision can return in the future. If so, Bettany says that he’s more than willing to continue in the role.

When asked if he would play Vision forever, Bettany replied “I love Vision. Yes, I’m in.”

WandaVision‘s complete season is on Disney+. Assembled: The Making of WandaVision will debut on Friday, March 12.
