Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen Hint At WandaVision’s Villain

So far, WandaVision has been less than forthcoming about who, if anyone, is behind the events of the show. Either Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff is rewriting reality, or someone is subjected her to this alternate world where Paul Bettany’s Vision is still alive. Regardless of the resolution, we don’t have any definitive answers yet. However, Bettany’s recent interview with Barstool Sports’ Lights, Camera, Pod may have shed some light on what’s ahead.

“I would also say that…so many things get leaked, and people find out about certain things,” said Bettany. “But there’s this thing that’s been kept completely under wraps, that happens. And I work with this actor that I have always wanted to work with, and we have fireworks together. The scenes are great, and I think people will be really excited. I’ve always wanted to work with this guy…and the scenes are pretty intense.”

Bettany also said that “I think [fans are] going to be massively surprised by the end of the show. I really think people are going to be like, ‘Oh my God!’ And they’re going to look at the MCU in a whole new light. And also, have a much deeper understanding of what direction it’s moving.”

However, Olsen was somewhat more evasive in her interview with Elle. She even suggested that WandaVision may not even have a traditional villain.

“Someone said to me when you watch any of these hero movies, you know when the villain’s about to show themselves, and you also have an idea of who the villain is,” said Olsen. “With our show, you don’t know what the villain is, or if there is one at all. Wanda is trying to protect everything in her bubble, protect what she and Vision have and this experience. I think everything she does is in response to keeping things together.”

WandaVision episode 4 will hit Disney+ on Friday, January 29.
