It appears that COVID-19 hit The Witcher production once again. According to a recent report by Deadline, the production on the set of the fantasy series had to be halted following four positive COVID-19 cases. None of the leading stars have tested positive, but Netflix will run tests on everyone involved in the show. In the meantime, the people with COVID-19 must isolate from the rest of the cast.
Netflix appears confident to resume filming at Arborfield Studios in the UK once the tests clear the non-positive ones. The news follows the announcement that actor Henry Cavill shared with his fans a few days ago, revealing that the show would have continued shooting through the new UK lockdown.

Today’s hindrance is hardly the first time COVID-19 forced Netflix to stop filming for the sophomore season of The Witcher. Back in March, actor Kristofer Hivju tested positive for COVID-19 and went into self-isolation together with his wife. The Game of Thrones alum announced his full recovery from the virus a month later, and production on the show resumed in Yorkshire, England, in August.
The sophomore season adapts the events of Andrzej Sapkowski’s Blood of Elves. Should everything go according to Netflix‘s plans, The Witcher Season 2 should hit the streaming service somewhere in 2021.
