For the last few months, the Hawkeye series has been dogged by rumors that Marvel was delaying the show indefinitely. And because it’s been a while since the studio offered any updates on the series, a number of fans feared the worst. Fortunately, it looks like the small-screen vehicle for Clint Barton is still very much on the horizon. In fact, Marvel has just recruited a new pair of writers to craft the story.
Via Screen Rant, writers Katie Mathewson and Tanner Bean have announced their involvement with Hawkeye on Twitter. You can check out what they had to say for yourself below.

Mathewson and Bean are both veterans of Pitch, a baseball-themed drama that lasted for one season on Fox in 2016. On this series, they worked alongside Jonathan Igla, who’s serving as Hawkeye’s head writer. They also wrote and executive produced for Versus, a show that aired on the now-defunct go90 platform. It looks like Hawkeye will mark the pair’s highest-profile writing gig yet.
Marvel Studios formally announced that the Hawkeye series was a go during last summer’s San Diego Comic-Con festivities. Jeremy Renner remains attached to reprise his iconic role from the films of the MCU. The series will also feature Clint Barton’s protégé, Kate Bishop, making her live-action debut. Back in September, it was reported that Marvel had their eye on Hailee Steinfeld to play this role. However, Steinfeld herself cast doubt on these reports in the months that followed.
Hawkeye is still expected to debut on Disney+ in 2021.
