Abby Arcane Meets the Monster of Her Dreams in New Swamp Thing Teaser

Later this month, the protector of the Green will rise in Swamp Thing, DC Universe’s next original series. Len Wein and artist Bernie Wrightson’s iconic hero really lends himself to horror. However, the Swamp Thing can also find love, as seen in the latest teaser.

Crystal Reed’s Abby Arcane narrates the teaser, as she says “sometimes the man of your dreams turns out to be a monster” while lying next to Swamp Thing. He may be a monster now, but Alec Holland (Andy Bean) was once a man. After a horrific accident, Alec was transformed into Swamp Thing (Derek Mears). In the series, Abby and Alec are re-imagined as CDC doctors racing to cure a deadly virus. But while dark forces conspire against them, even Alec’s new body can’t keep them apart.

In the comics, Abby and Swamp Thing’s romance continued even when there was doubt about whether Alex was truly transformed or if he was just a plant with the memories of a man. That idea was famously introduced during Alan Moore’s classic run on the comic.

Maria Sten co-stars in the series as Liz Tremayne, with Henderson Wade as Matt Cable, and Jennifer Beals as Lucilia Cable. Jeryl Prescott is portraying Madame Xanadu, while Ian Ziering is playing Daniel Cassidy, a faded movie star who is destined to become Blue Devil. Will Patton and Virginia Madsen also star in the series as Avery and Maria Sunderland.

Swamp Thing will premiere on May 31 on DC Universe. What do you think about the new teaser? Let us know in the comment section below!
