The Hollywood Reporter says that Warner Home Video’s V For Vendetta topped both the sales and rental charts:
“V for Vendetta” handily outsold its nearest competitor, Buena Vista’s “The Shaggy Dog” remake, by a margin of more than 2-to-1, according to VideoScan’s First Alert DVD sales chart for the week ending Aug. 6.
In theaters, “V for Vendetta” grossed $70.5 million, while “The Shaggy Dog” finished with $61.1 million.
On Home Media Retailing’s video rental chart for the week, “V for Vendetta” nudged the previous week’s topper, Sony Pictures’ “The Benchwarmers,” to the No. 2 spot, with estimated rental earnings for the week of $9.4 million to the baseball comedy’s $9.2 million.
