The Hollywood Reporter says Namco Hometek has acquired the video game rights to Afro Samurai:
Namco Hometek has acquired the video game rights to “Afro Samurai,” the gritty manga series from Japanese animation studio GDH K.K. The agreement gives Namco — the Japanese publisher best known for its “Pac-Man” and “Soul Calibur” franchises — the rights to publish two different “Samurai” games over the next five years.
Created by acclaimed visualist Takashi Okazaki, “Samurai” already is set to be adapted into a live-action feature film with Chuck Roven and Mosaic. Samuel L. Jackson is attached as the title character and co-producer. Additionally, the property is in preproduction with GDH group company Gonzo and Fuji Television Network as an animated miniseries. Jackson has joined as both co-producer and lead voice actor of the mini, which will air on Spike TV in the U.S.
