Andrew Garfield Denies Spider-Man 4 Return Rumors

With Spider-Man 4 in development, there has been speculation that Andrew Garfield might appear in the MCU movie. His cameo appearance in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home was widely praised and even prompted many to demand his return as the superhero in the third part of Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man, the future of which currently remains uncertain. However, the actor recently dismissed the rumors circulating online regarding his return in Spider-Man 4.

Andrew Garfield’s cryptic reply to Spider-Man 4 return possibilities

Andrew Garfield recently attended the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) for the premiere of his movie We Live in Time, featuring Florence Pugh as the female lead.

During a conversation with IndieWire, Garfield was asked whether he would appear in Spider-Man 4, which is currently in development stage. The actor quashed the rumors, suggesting they were just clickbait. He said, “I mean, like the internet is a big place. I think there’s a lot of people who will just say anything to get clicks. So you might have been duped, I’m afraid.”

In 2021, Andrew Garfield reprised his role as the web-slinger in the MCU’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, which earned around $1.9 billion at the global box office. For many, this was one of the greatest surprises in the movie as Garfield was returning as Spider-Man after almost seven years. Before that, he had worn the costume in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which was released in 2014. It was not only Garfield who made a comeback as Peter 3 for No Way Home but Tobey Maguire also returned in the web-slinging role after nearly 15 years.

During the SDCC in July 2024, MCU boss Kevin Feige shared some details on the development of the Tom Holland-led movie. As per Screen Rant, he said, “We have writers who are going to be delivering us a draft relatively soon.”

As of now, Spider-Man 4 does not have an official release date.
