Next month, Sony will reboot its long-running Resident Evil franchise with a new film that adheres more closely to the original video games that inspired it. And in case there was any doubt about Sony’s newfound faithfulness to the source material, the studio has just released the first trailer Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City. It’s still early, but it looks like the reboot might have more of a chance at winning over purists than any of the previous films ever did.
The movie takes viewers back to 1998, the year the Umbrella Corporation unleashed the T-virus on the titular Midwestern town. Caught in the middle of the outbreak are two iconic characters from the first two games: Claire and Chris Redfield. Together, the siblings set out to expose the sins of Umbrella and contain the virus before it’s too late. Along the way, the pair will team up with several other fan favorites, including Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Resident Evil movie without ravenous zombies lurking around every corner. And the trailer has plenty of undead action to go around. In addition to the standard walkers, we also get a few shots of a zombie dog terrorizing Donal Logue’s Chief Brian Irons. There’s even a brief appearance by a mutated Licker near the very end.
Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City hits theaters on November 24.
