Fan-favorite Star Trek actor William Shatner’s TekWar novels are getting a new animated adaptation. According to Deadline, the Shatner Universe will join Pure Imagination Studios to produce the new show. The project will involve Star Wars: The Clone Wars veteran Matt Michnovetz, who will develop and write the science fiction thriller work as a mixed-reality animated series.
Viewers will play an interactive part in the adventures of one of the toughest cops in a futuristic Los Angeles. Fans will also have the power to participate with their mobile phones and tablets. Regardless, it is possible to watch the series without the interactive touches. But the whole package includes the real-time experience.
“My association with Pure Imagination is beyond my sheer imagination,” said Shatner in a statement. “Imagine bringing to life this wonderful character in a variety of ways, so technologically advanced. This is the future and I am looking forward to it.”

TekWar follows detective Jake Cardigan in Greater Los Angeles and how his life changed after turning to Tek, a brain stimulant that can transport users to different realities. Jake is also accused of dealing Tek, which costs him his badge and earns him a suspended animation sentence. However, he does get a chance to prove his innocence.
Previously, TekWar had a live-action adaptation at USA Network in 1994, as well as a comic book series and a video game.
The producers have yet to announce an official release date or an outlet for Tek War.
