Charlie Cox Says He’s Not in the Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer

Last December, rumors began swirling that former Daredevil star Charlie Cox was going to reprise his role in Spider-Man: No Way Home. This “news” was met with an enthusiastic response from fans, who celebrated the idea of one of Marvel’s Netflix characters finally getting to play in the larger MCU sandbox. Sadly, that rumor remains unconfirmed by No Way Home’s first trailer. Cox simply wasn’t in the footage. But a few viewers thought they noticed something very familiar about a particular set of forearms…

The trailer memorably featured a scene where Peter Parker is being questioned about his involvement in Mysterio’s death in Spider-Man: Far From Home. During the interrogation, an unidentified character slams a folder down on the table in front of him. Many fans have suggested that this is none other than Cox’s Matt Murdock acting as Peter’s lawyer. But during a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Cox claimed that these theories are bogus.

“I can promise you those are not my forearms,” said Cox.

When Cox joined Daredevil, his contract included the option to appear in MCU features should Marvel ever request it. However, that never came to pass. The Marvel movies also seemed to completely ignore the shows produced by Marvel Television.

Since Daredevil was canceled alongside Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and The Punisher, it hasn’t been clear what Marvel’s intentions are for the street-level heroes who previously headlined their own Netflix shows. However, Kevin Feige has said that all of these characters are “on the board” for future MCU appearances.

Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theaters on December 17.
