The word anime gets tossed around a lot as if it’s a genre or a style. But in the case of Star Wars: Visions, it’s the true definition: Japanese animation. And this weekend, at Anime Expo, the new anthology series revealed a first look video. As part of that presentation, Lucasfilm also announced the anime studios that will create the individual shorts. And the titles of said shorts. They are:
Kamikaze Douga – The Duel
Geno Studio (Twin Engine) – Lop and Ochō
Studio Colorido (Twin Engine) – Tatooine Rhapsody
Trigger – The Twins
Trigger – The Elder
Kinema Citrus – The Village Bride
Science Saru – Akakiri
Science Saru – T0-B1
Production IG – The Ninth Jedi

While many of the characters look brand new, Jabba the Hutt and Boba Fett make cameos. And with Star Wars having originally been inspired by Akira Kurosawa samurai movies, the circle, as Vader says, is now complete. Several of the new shorts seem to sport a samurai vibe.
Also, for the first time on Disney Plus, this new Star Wars series will drop in binge-worthy form. Every episode goes live on the streamer Sept 22nd.
