Doctor Who: Revolution of the Daleks Posters and Photos Hint at the Action

The year 2021 is nearly upon us, and so is the Doctor Who special. A few hours from the episode’s official release, BBC has dropped a shiny new set of posters – and some new stills — featuring all the main characters. The holiday special will see the Thirteenth Doctor back in action.

The Time Lord is still imprisoned in space far away from the Earth. But as she plans an escape, the story will also involve the long-awaited return of John Barrowman’s Captain Jack Harkness. There are posters for each of the main characters, including Bradley Walsh’s Graham O’Brien and Tosin Cole’s Ryan Sinclair, who are leaving the show after the special.

Lee Haven Jones directed the episode written by Chris Chibnall and Terry Nation. The official synopsis of Revolution of the Daleks reads:

“Viewers last saw the Thirteenth Doctor at the end of season 12, where her fate was left hanging in the balance as she was locked away in a high-security alien prison with no hope of escape. In the upcoming New Year’s Day special, Yaz, Ryan, and Graham are far away on Earth and having to carry on with their lives without her. However, they soon discover a disturbing plan forming. A plan which involves a Dalek. How can you fight a Dalek without the Doctor? Even with Captain Jack’s help, the gang is set to face one of their biggest and most frightening challenges yet.”

Revolution of the Daleks will debut on BBC America at 8 p.m. EST on Jan. 1.
