Felicity Jones Sees ‘Unfinished Business’ for Jyn Erso in Star Wars

It appears that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story might not be the end for Jyn Erso. At least, that is what actress Felicity Jones suggests in her recent interview with THR. Even though the fate of the member of the Alliance to Restore the Republic seemed sealed, she believes that there are more stories to be told about Jyn.

“I just keep saying that reincarnation is totally possible in the Star Wars universe,” she said. “So, I feel there’s unfinished business for Jyn, for sure.”

In the 2016 movie, it appeared that the Death Star had destroyed the compromised base on Scarif, killing Jyn in the process. The recent sequel trilogy focused on events that took place roughly thirty years after Rogue One. Jones’s character didn’t get the chance to appear or screen or even to be mentioned. Even so, fans might still hope to see her once again.

“I think it would be fascinating to see her getting older and wiser and fighting the dark forces in the universe, of which there are many it seems,” Jones added.

In the same interview, Jones also talked about her upcoming role in Netflix’s The Midnight Sky. In the upcoming sci-fi movie, Jones is portraying an astronaut returning home after a space mission. The British actress revealed that her pregnancy led the director and co-star George Clooney to change the script and include the actress’s situation into the story.

“There were certain stunt sequences that he made a little alteration in order to make it as safe as possible for me,” she said. “So I had the luxury of being able to be seated for many of my stunts, which was quite nice. When we started shooting, the plan was we would CGI the bump, and Sully wasn’t going to be pregnant. And then, when we started shooting, George was watching the rushes and came to me and said, “I think actually this could be even better for the narrative if Sully was pregnant.” And it felt right.”

The Midnight Sky will hit Netflix on Dec. 23.
