It’s been a while since fans got any news about the upcoming The Lord of the Rings: Gollum video game. But today, out of the blue, Daedalic Entertainment has released a brand new teaser trailer. The footage features the creature called Gollum, in what seems like a cave. The walls of the cave are full of graffiti of the Red Eye, Sauron’s symbol. As soon as Gollum walks out of the cave, we get a quick glimpse of Mordor, with Mount Doom and Barad-dur in the background.

Unless the video game took some huge creative liberties, the cave showed in the teaser is not Gollum’s home, which is located under the Misty Mountains. It’s more likely to depict Shelob’s lair, since the latter is immediately adjacent to the Dark Lord’s reign.
Even though Andy Serkis will not reprise his iconic role from Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies, and the game’s developers have teased a new design for the character, it seems that Serkis’ heritage is still being felt. Yes, Gollum has a different face, but the rest is pretty much the same. Except for that fish that is dangling from his side, and that Gollum might wield like a weapon.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will hit PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC somewhere in 2021.
