On Thursday, January 23, Patrick Stewart will reprise his iconic role in Star Trek: Picard on CBS All Access. And while the first season will reunite Jean-Luc Picard with some of his crew from Star Trek: The Next Generation, Whoopi Goldberg won’t be among them….at least not yet. Goldberg’s Guinan and Stewart’s Picard were close friends on TNG, and that friendship carried over to reality as well. During Stewart’s recent appearance on Goldberg’s talk show, The View, he made a public invitation for Goldberg to join him in the second season.
“I’m here with a formal invitation, and it’s for you, Whoopi,” said Stewart. “Alex Kurtzman, who is the senior executive producer of Star Trek: Picard, and all of his colleagues, of which I am one, want to invite you into the second season.”
After an emotional reaction from Goldberg and her co-hosts, she happily accepted Stewart’s invitation. Goldberg also went on to briefly speak about what being on TNG meant to her. Additionally, Stewart added that “we can not wait to have you with us again one more time.”
