The Mandalorian Adds Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Ming-Na Wen

While Disney+ is still a few months away, The Mandalorian‘s first season is still making casting announcements. The latest addition to the show is no stranger to the Disney brand. According to IGN, Ming-Na Wen has joined the cast of Disney+’s inaugural live-action Star Wars series in a mystery role.

Disney CEO Bog Iger made the announcement during today’s D23 Expo. Wen herself appeared at the event today to receive a Disney Legends award alongside Robert Downey Jr., Jon Favreau, and more. Wen’s relationship with the House of Mouse began in 1998 when she voiced the title character in Mulan. She has also spent the last six years starring as Agent Melinda May on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC. Some of Wen’s other genre roles include Stargate Universe’s Camile Wray and Street Fighter’s Chun-Li.

“I used to pray to God, Buddha, and the Force when I was a little girl,” said Wen during her Disney Legends acceptance speech. “It’s astounding to me, Disney has offered me so much more.”

Lucasfilm and Disney+ will release a trailer for The Mandalorian later today. In the interim, D23 has already graced us with a new poster. Favreau, Dave Filoni, and more special guests will appear during the series’ panel for an exclusive sneak preview.

The Mandalorian will launch with Disney+ on November 12.
