Alanna Masterson Was ‘Caught Off Guard’ By Last Night’s Walking Dead

The latest episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead delivered heartbreaking carnage with one of the hardest hitting episodes in the series’ history. In episode 9.15, The Whisperers made a statement after decapitating Hilltop leader Tara alongside several of her friends, including Carol’s adopted son Henry and the teenage Enid.  Speaking with EW, actress Alanna Masterson opened up about her character’s sudden demise, saying:

I was caught off guard for sure, but also excited for what the future holds. Tara has been extremely fun to bring to life.

Before her head ended up on a spike, Tara was one of the show’s longest-serving survivors. She became the leader of Hilltop after Maggie’s departure and Jesus’ death. Despite being “excited to see where the story goes from here”, Masterson’s only regret is the fact that she would have wanted to more explore Tara’s leadership side as “The Whisperer War” comic book storyline begins.

The last day on set was really nice,” Masterson added. “It was freezing cold and we were all huddled around talking and laughing. The crew is my family, and I’m going to miss them terribly. But we got to get a few last-minute jokes in before I said goodbye.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC. Did the choise of Tara’s sudden demise surprised you? Share your thoughts in the comments section below and watch the promo for next week’s finale!
