Rita Ora Joins Detective Pikachu Movie
THR reports British singer/actress Rita Ora is set to join the upcoming live-action Detective Pikachu movie. Ora is perhaps best known for her music career, however she has shown her interest in appearing in film and TV as she co-starred in the widely-successful Fifty Shades trilogy, playing Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan)’s sister, Mia.
Details of Ora’s character in this live-action adaptation is being kept under wraps.
The film recently announced the addition of Suki Waterhouse to its eclectic cast consisting of Ryan Reynolds as the titular Detective Pikachu, Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton, Ken Watanabe and Bill Nighy. Smith will star as a teen whose father is kidnapped which leads him to Reynolds’ Pikachu and Kathryn Newton as a young journalist who team up in order to find him. Goosebumps helmer Rob Letterman is on directing duty while Mary Parent (The Revenant) and Cale Boyter are producing the film for Legendary Entertainment.
Ora has appeared in a number of reality TV shows, including The X Factor, The Voice UK and America’s Next Top Model. Her filmography includes appearing in the Jake Gyllenhaal boxing film Southpaw as well the aforementioned Fifty Shades trilogy. She is set to appear in the upcoming film Wonderwell, which is one of the final movies starring the late, great Carrie Fisher.
Detective Pikachu is set for release on May 10th, 2019.
