Comic-Con: Marvel Won’t Address ‘Dueling Quicksilvers’

We had a number of questions for him, some which he was able to address, some which he had to keep mum about, but considering that Marvel was going to follow 20th Century Fox’s X-Men: Days of Future Past panel, we had to ask about the “dueling Quicksilvers” appearing in that movie (out May 23, 2014 with Evan Peters in the role of Pietro) and Marvel’s The Avengers 2 (out May 1, 2015 with Aaron Taylor-Johnson rumored to play Quicksilver). Oddly the two actors played best friends in the original KIck-Ass movie.

“I can’t speak for Fox–I think Fox might do something–but we’re not prepared to do anything with that,” Feige confirmed about the back-to-back panels later today. “It’s early days for us. We just know that there’s enough Quicksilver in the comics and there’s a reason that each studio has a right to that character is because he’s a certain way in the Avengers comic, he’s a certain way in the X-Men comic, and from what I know now, we’re treating him as very very distinct different characters.” (In fact, there may not even be an announcement of Taylor-Johnson in the role of Quicksilver at the panel or any other Avengers 2 casting since they’re really focused on showing the very first footage from the upcoming Thor and Cap sequels.)

Look for more with Feige from our full interview where he talks about the future for Cap and Thor in solo movies, potential crossovers with the “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” TV show, possible One-Shot shorts released theatrically and the fact that James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy is three weeks into shooting. That will hopefully be live tomorrow sometime.
