Michael Bay Denies Transformers 3D Problems

There are few filmmakers as outspoken as director Michael Bay, who we can always rely on to comment on various rumors on the message board for his website MichaelBay.com. The latest rumor for him to address is the one about his upcoming Transformers: Dark of the Moon having problems with its 3D. At the same time, he hinted that the first trailer, or as he calls it, an "announcement piece," will be seen in front of the next two 3D movies, TRON: Legacy and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

Here are Bay’s exact words as posted on the message board:

Wow, I read these morons on the internet who think they are in the know. "We have have problems with our 3D????” Really? Come into my edit room and I will show you beautiful 3D. There has never been a live action show that has pushed the boundaries of 3D like Transformers 3. We shot the entire movie with 3D cameras. I actually loved shooting in 3D.

I will give full details of my process and why I liked 3D in the next week right before the Transformers announcement piece comes out on Tron and Narnia.

And don’t watch this movie in 2D, we made it for 3D.

Michael

So there you have it. The director who a few years ago was calling 3D a "gimmick" and saying that he doesn’t see much point to it is now its biggest fan and is saying that the movie is intended to be seen in 3D ala James Cameron’s Avatar.

You can make that decision for yourself when Transformers: Dark of the Moon opens on July 1, 2011. Check back for the first teaser trailer sometime in the next couple of weeks!
