Neil Gaiman’s Sandman Television Series in Development

Warner Bros. is allegedly seeking a creative entity to become the program’s showrunner, but the article notes that “Supernatural” creator Eric Kripke may be at the top of the studio’s list.

Sandman, which launched DC Comic’s Vertigo imprint, ran for 75 issues beginning in 1989. Gaiman’s worlds-within-worlds weaved an episodic anthology, focusing on the allegorical character of Dream and his brothers and sisters, known as the Endless (Death, Desire, Despair, Delirium, Destruction and Destiny).

An adaptation of the series has been rumored since its inception two decades ago, most recently as a spinoff film for Dream’s sister, Death, which Gaiman had plans to write and direct himself. It is unclear whether or not this proposed series would conflict with that project if it is, indeed, still moving forward.
