Superman writer/director James Gunn has reflected on the screen test between David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan exactly one year after it occurred.
In a post on Threads, Gunn — who is also co-CEO of DC Studios — offered new insight into Corenswet and Brosnahan’s screen test, as well as what it has been like to work with them on the highly-anticipated DC Universe movie.
“One year ago today David and Rachel screen-tested for Clark and Lois. When they first read together it was like magic,” Gunn wrote in the social media post. “What a wonderful year it’s been with two of the most extraordinary, vibrant, and meticulous actors I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with. I can’t wait for you to see them on screen in just a little over a year.”

Superman’s cousin, Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, portrayed by Milly Alcock, is also rumored to appear ahead of her solo movie, although her involvement remains unconfirmed by Gunn at this time.
Plot details remain largely under wraps for Superman, although Gunn has shared that the movie will focus on the title hero reconciling his Kryptonian roots with his human upbringing. Superman will be the first movie released as part of the DCU, which begins this December with the animated series Creature Commandos on Max.
