Marvel’s The Fantastic Four Casts John Malkovich

John Malkovich has joined the cast of Marvel’s The Fantastic Four.

Per Deadline, Malkovich will play an undisclosed role in Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four, which is being directed by Matt Shakman.

The already announced cast of The Fantastic Four includes Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/the Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/the Thing.

Additionally, Julia Garner has been cast as Shalla-Bal/Silver Surfer, while Paul Walter Hauser recently joined the movie in an undisclosed role.

What movies has John Malkovich been in?

Malkovich has so far been in three films that are based on comic books, as he played Quentin Turnbull in 2010’s Jonah Hex and Marvin Boggs in both 2010’s RED and the 2013 RED 2 sequel.

Malkovich has been nominated for two Academy Awards throughout his career: Best Actor in a Supporting Role for 1984’s Places in the Hart and Best Actor in a Supporting Role for 1993’s In the Line of Fire. 

He’s also known for starring in movies such as 1987’s Empire of the Sun, 1992’s Of Mice and Men, 1997’s Con Air, 1998’s Rounders, 1999’s Being John Malkovich, 2005’s The Hitchhiker’s Guide of the Galaxy, 2008’s Burn After Reading, 2010’s Secretariat, 2016’s Deepwater Horizon, 2018’s Bird Box, and 2019’s Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, among other roles. 

Malkovich’s last film performance was in 2023’s Mr. Blake At Your Service!, while he also recently played Reeves Minot alongside Andrew Scott in an episode of Netflix’s Ripley series.

Plot details for Marvel’s The Fantastic Four remain under wraps at this time. The movie is currently scheduled to be released in United States theaters on July 25, 2025, as part of Phase Six of the MCU.
