Robert Pattinson Batman villains

James Gunn Shuts Down Rumors About Which Villains Will Appear in The Batman Part 2

James Gunn has shut down a rumor regarding which villains will appear in Matt Reeves’ upcoming sequel to 2022’s The Batman, The Batman – Part II.

On Threads, Gunn responded to a now-deleted post claiming a handful of famous DC characters will appear in 2025’s The Batman — Part II. “Professor Pyg and Scarecrow are set to join Clayface, Hush, and Dick Grayson in Batman Part 2,” the original post read.

Gunn simply responded, “Nope. Totally made up.”

Who will appear in The Batman — Part II?

At this time, Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne/Batman is the only character that DC has confirmed will be featured in the upcoming sequel. Both Pattinson and Reeves have, however, expressed interest in exploring characters like Robin and Hush in future Batman projects, whether they be The Batman — Part II or another film/television series further down the line.

Speaking to Collider in February 2022 about the possibility of Robin joining the franchise, Pattinson said, “He has to be 13. That’s the only way I’ll accept it. No, I love Death in the Family and stuff, but I think it’d be so cool. Also people are so scared of it, but it’s kind of exciting. I think it would be a really fun addition.”

When asked about which characters would be “a dream to incorporate in the world of The Batman” in March 2022, Reeves said, via Twitter Movies, “I think Hush is a really interesting one to do. I’ll choose Hush. That doesn’t mean the next one will be Hush.”

Barry Keoghan, meanwhile, also recently hinted that he might be returning as The Joker sooner rather than later. When asked if he was returning for The Batman — Part II, Keoghan told Etalk, “I can’t really say anything about that my man, but, um, it would be exciting, wouldn’t it? To see The Joker come to life again? My smile says all, you know what I mean?”

The Batman — Part II is currently set to release in United States theaters on October 3, 2025.
