Marvel Actor Jonathan Majors Found Guilty of Harassment, Assault

Marvel actor Jonathan Majors has been found guilty of assault in the third degree and harassment.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a six-person jury found Majors guilty on misdemeanor counts of harassment and assault on Monday, December 18, 2023. He was also “found not guilty on one count of intentional assault in the third degree and aggravated harassment in the second degree,” according to Variety.

Variety’s article further states that Majors’ sentencing will take place on February 6, 2024. He faces up to a year in jail.

Why was Jonathan Majors on trial?

Majors was arrested in March 2023 after he allegedly assaulted his ex-partner, Grace Jabbari. On March 25, 2023, Majors called 911 after he found Jabbari unconscious in their apparent. A police investigation found “apparent injuries on Jabbari,” leading to the arrest. Majors pleaded not guilty to all charges brought before him.

“Jabbari, who took the witness stand for the first four days of the trial, said Majors had caused the injuries during an altercation in the car several hours before,” The Hollywood Reporter’s article states. “She testified that the alleged incident occurred in a private car when she saw a text on Majors’ phone that read: ‘Oh how I wish to be kissing you.’ Jabbari has said she tried to snatch the phone from Majors, who then pried her finger from the phone, grabbed her arm and right hand, twisted her forearm, and struck her head to get the phone away from her.”

The article continues, “The charges against Majors were brought by the state of New York, rather than by Jabbari herself. The case was a criminal trial, rather than civil, meaning the burden of proof is higher for the jury who had to find proof of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt on each charge.”

Majors, who was dropped by his publicity firm and managers at Management 360 following his arrest, played Kang the Conqueror in Marvel Studios’ Loki and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. He also starred in 2022’s Devotion, 2023’s Creed II, and more.
