Patrick Stewart says there’s a “possibility” he might show up in Avengers: Secret Wars as Charles Xavier.
Speaking with Etalk, Stewart was asked about Professor X potentially appearing in 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars and if there were any online rumors circulating that he’d like to “put to rest” at this time.
“I cannot put it to rest because it’s not a fact either for or against,” Stewart answered. “It is a possibility. Hugh Jackman and I looked upon Logan as being our farewell, given that I died in that film. Although, I’ve been told I actually died several times already.”
What X-Men movies has Patrick Stewart already been in?
Stewart first debuted as Charles Xavier in 2000’s X-Men. He reprised the role in 2003’s X2 and 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand, the latter of which saw him seemingly killed by Jean Grey/The Phoenix. The post-credits scene of X-Men: The Last Stand, however, revealed Charles survived by transferring his consciousness into a comatose patient’s body.
Following brief appearances in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine and 2013’s The Wolverine, Stewart again played the character in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past and 2017’s Logan, the latter of which, again, saw him die.
In 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse, however, Marvel Studios introduced an alternate version of Charles Xavier from a different universe who serves as the leader of the Illuminati. This version of Charles was also killed at the hands of Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff.
Avengers: Secret Wars will be the sixth Avengers film in the MCU following 2012’s The Avengers, 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, and 2026’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
Not much is known about the plot for Avengers: Secret Wars at this time. The movie, which is being written by Michael Waldron but does not yet have a director attached, is scheduled to release on May 7, 2027, from Marvel.
