Dungeons & Dragons 2: Chris Pine Is ‘Pretty Confident’ Honor Among Thieves Sequel Will Happen

Chris Pine says that he’s “pretty confident” a sequel to 2023’s Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves will happen.

Speaking with GamesRadar+, Pine was asked about whether Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves could be getting a sequel.

“I’ve heard some rumors about it,” Pine said. “But I don’t know anything yet. But I feel pretty confident that it may happen.”

When asked if he’d be open to return for a potential sequel, Pine said, “Absolutely.”

Released in March 2023, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley and stars Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, and Hugh Grant. The movie made approximately $208.2 million at the worldwide box office off of a budget of $150 million.

What is Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves about?

“A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people,” the official synopsis reads. “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves brings the rich world and playful spirit of the legendary roleplaying game to the big screen in a hilarious and action-packed adventure.”

While a spin-off television series is also in the works for Paramount+, Daley and Goldstein have spoken about potentially doing an Honor Among Thieves sequel before.

Goldstein told Polygon in May 2023, “I think probably the owlbear would make a repeat appearance [in a potential sequel] because that’s certainly a favorite. I think a lot of people on social media were hungry for a beholder, and they probably deserve a beholder if there’s a sequel. But beyond that, it’s all really just gonna come from what’s what’s the most compelling story to tell.”

Daley added, “It was never our intention when we came on board this film to make a franchise,. I think that would cloud our ability to focus entirely on the film at hand. The cardinal mistake many studios make is to put the cart before the horse, where they start crafting a cinematic universe before they even make a good single film. So first and foremost for us was getting this right.”

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is currently streaming on Prime Video and Paramount+.
