Venom 3 release date SAG-AFTRA actors strike

Venom 3 Likely to Be Delayed Unless Actors Strike Ends in Coming Weeks

Venom 3 likely won’t make its July 2024 release date unless the actors strike ends in the coming weeks.

According to a recent article published by Variety, Venom 3 is the next superhero movie that will likely have to shift release dates because of the ongoing Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strike for better wages, protection against artificial intelligence, and more.

Sony Pictures has not confirmed that Venom 3 won’t make its July 12, 2024, release date; however, Venom 3 was only a couple of weeks into filming when the actors strike began on July 14, 2023.

More 2024 releases will likely be delayed due to production delays

“There will be a number of 2024 titles that move into 2025 and beyond because of production delays,” said Eric Wold, a senior media analyst for B. Riley. “Studios are holding back and not talking about it to avoid showing their weak hand during negotiations. But people are waiting for it.”

A number of other major blockbusters previously expected to arrive in 2024 have already been delayed, including Dune: Part Two, Kraven the Hunter, Mission: Impossible 8, A Quiet Place: Day One, and more. Deadpool 3 has also reportedly given up its May 4, 2024, release date, as the movie was only halfway done filming when the strike began.

SAG-AFTRA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) have resumed negotiations to end the actors strike after previous talks were suspended over various disagreements. On October 24, 2023, SAG-AFTRA issued a statement reading, “Today, the CEOs came back to the table. We are scheduled to continue talks with them tomorrow. We will continue to provide updates with you directly. Remember – don’t believe anything you read in the press unless it comes directly from us. Keep showing up on the picket lines and make your voices heard around the country.”

Directed by Kelly Marcel, Venom 3 sees Tom Hardy return to the role of Eddie Brock/Venom. Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor have also been cast in the movie in undisclosed roles.
