Running into your ex is always awkward. But in the case of Thor and Jane Foster, awkward doesn’t even begin to cover it. With Thor: Love and Thunder’s premiere date fast approaching, two new clips from the long-awaited sequel have made their way online, both of which show Chris Hemsworth’s Thor struggling to make sense of Jane’s shocking transformation into the MCU’s newest superhero.
Taking cues from Jason Aaron’s Thor run, Love and Thunder brings Natalie Portman back to the franchise after a nine-year absence. Only this time, Jane is anything but helpless. In fact, she’s worthy enough to carry Mjolnir and adopt her own superpowered persona as the Mighty Thor. Unfortunately, her return happens to coincide with the emergence of Gorr the God Butcher. And Gorr won’t rest until all omnipotent beings are wiped from existence. Jane displays plenty of confidence in the first clip, which also finds Thor, Valkyrie, and Korg coming up with a plan to track Gorr down. However, Jane’s catchphrases could definitely use some work.

The second clip shows Thor watching Jane from a distance, proving once and for all that he still isn’t over their breakup. And he’s also not over losing Mjolnir in his battle with Hela in Thor: Ragnarok. So when he sees Jane spinning the hammer around in her hand, he can’t help but try to summon it himself…even if it does make Stormbreaker jealous.
