Last year, James Gunn debunked a false story circulating which stated Daniela Melchior would play Moondragon in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Fans largely took that to mean she wouldn’t get cast in the movie at all. But Gunn never actually said that — the director tends to choose his words very carefully so he can never be accused of lying. Today, Deadline reports that Melchior is indeed in the movie, which recently wrapped. They call it a small role, and confirm that indeed, she’s not Moondragon.
Gunn loves to reuse actors he’s worked with previously, where possible. Michael Rooker, Nathan Fillion, Sylvester Stallone, and Linda Cardellini are among his regulars, and now it looks like The Suicide Squad‘s Melchior will join that unofficial club. The Portuguese actress will also appear in the next Fast and Furious film, alongside Guardians‘ own Groot, Vin Diesel, and recent Peacemaker cameo performer Jason Momoa.

Melchior made her English-language debut as Ratcatcher 2 in Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, occasionally stealing the show from the likes of Idris Elba and John Cena. But that wasn’t her first comic book superhero role: she dubbed the voice of Gwen Stacy in the Portuguese version of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
